The only thing worrying me about the new Bella Piatti in downtown Birmingham is whether I’ll ever be able to get in again after word gets around about its inviting new look and approach.
The reopened Italian bistro on Townsend Street — now under new management — is delightfully warm, and chef Francesco Apollonia offers a menu that is fresh, diverse and interesting.
New operators Liz and Nino Curtraro unlocked the doors quietly on Feb. 13 after completing a floor-to-ceiling interior makeover, turning details copied from Renaissance paintings into striking wall-sized murals and using silvery metal mesh curtains to divide the room into sections.
