drawing inspiration from northern italy, bellapiatti is a comfortable, bustling restaurant with a focus on understated, rustic elegance. don’t expect a travelogue of italian “must-haves”, instead revel in chef daniel campbell’s straightforward riffs on northern italian cuisine.
we believe that america’s agricultural and cultural bounty should be a source of inspiration for all of our food, so at bellapiatti, we work closely with local & artisanal growers, producers, and foragers. sourced from michigan whenever possible, our ingredients reflect a faithful adherence to local purveyors. local michigan farmers provide us with vegetables and heritage pork, cheeses from michigan and our neighboring great lake states, and our cured ham and salumi come from the best producers in such far away and exotic locales as new york and iowa. bellapiatti’s italian cuisine comes from america without being “americanized”.
with a seasonal focus, chef daniel and his team introduce two new dishes each week and the menu completes a full rotation seasonally. we offer a wide selection of plates—from cut-to-order cured meats to lamb, pork, and seafood. our salumi station offers guests dialogue with our salumi chef as he prepares our daily antipasti’s. our menu reflects the concept of social dining and offers a series of small plates, pastas, and entrees’ from our wood roasted grill with the idea that sharing multiple items creates a lively and satisfying dining experience.
our wine program is further representation of our commitment to all things italian, providing oenophiles and newcomers alike exciting wine options that represent key regions and established producers. the importance is not in the length of the list but in the sense of care with which each bottle is selected to stand on its own and with the tingling freshness that is the hallmark of italian wine. we offer over 60 italian varietals by the bottle and more than 25 by the glass. the constantly evolving and approachable list focuses on balance, offering a wide selection that are at once food-friendly and perfect for sipping.
beer-lovers also have all italian options, where an assortment of imported beers are available, including up-and-coming craft brewers from piedmont, lazio and abruzzo in addition to italian mainstays like grappa, campari and a selection of amari, six constantly changing cocktails provide a take on italian classics, such as the negroni sbagliato, bellini, and a seasonal daiquiri.
experience something fresh and unique. whether you stop by for glass of wine, a quick bite at the salumi bar, or for a dinner extravaganza with friends, we invite you in for a memorable experience at bellapiatti our “beautiful dish”!
